Sesame Street turns 40!

Hello there!
Thank-you google for celebrating the 40th birthday of Sesame Street! I remember when I was little, and I watched sesame street in the morning with my mommy before I went to school. I loved all of the characters, especially elmo! The next time you go to google, look at the adorable picture of one of the Sesame Street characters!
I think that if you find a way of doing this on google, you can see all of the "special googles", and there you can find all of the Sesame Street characters they've featured during the week.
Bye-Bye for now!

Holidays!!!

Hi guys,
I know that it has been a while since I've posted anything, so I'll get right to it then. I know that it's only November, and that we still have Thanksgiving coming. But I'm just SO excited for the holidays! I really can't think of anyone who does not like the holidays. I mean, if you are in school you get a break, maybe your family goes on vacation, or maybe you get to see your family, if it snows where you live you can have some fun outside, you get gifts, and so much more!
So I want to know what you love about the holidays! What do you do? Are you with your friends, family, or both? Do you have a wishlist?
I'll be posting my wishlist in December!
I can't wait!

Fun Funds

Hello there!
So I decided that I am going to make a new category that I am going to write about called "Fun Funds", because I am so big on community service. It will include brief information about funds and organizations that I have learned about! The first fund I would like to talk about is called "Darius Goes West". Darius Goes West is actually a documentary of a project about a boy named Darius, who suffers from a disease called DMD, or Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The reason why I am writing about this is because this is a disease that can be cured in our lifetime!!! Although everyone everywhere wants to cure cancer, AIDS, etc. we still have lots of research ahead of us before we can cure the epidemics. But DMD can be cured because there have been many breakthroughs in DMD studies already. Please visit the following websites to learn more about how you can help Darius, and many other boys all over the world!

Owl City

Hey Guys!
So I recently just fixed my iPod and was searching through iTunes to add some more songs, and I was looking at the top 10. Usually I am not the kind of person to buy music from the top 10 because it doesn't really have my kind of music, but they have this song called "Fireflies", and I cannot stop listening to it! I think that the words are beautiful, creative and original, and the music video is simply adorable. I highly recommend buying it. Listen to the song or watch the music video on YouTube by clicking here, or download the song on iTunes for your iPod like I did! Just to do something a little different than before, I am going to post the lyrics to the song below. Tell me what you think in the comments box!!

You would not believe your eyes
If ten million fireflies
Lit up the world as I fell asleep

'Cause they'd fill the open air
And leave teardrops everywhere
You'd think me rude
But I would just stand and stare

I'd like to make myself believe
That planet Earth turns slowly
It's hard to say that I'd rather stay
Awake when I'm asleep
'Cause everything is never as it seems

'Cause I'd get a thousand hugs
From ten thousand lightning bugs
As they tried to teach me how to dance

A fox trot above my head
A sock hop beneath my bed
A disco ball is just hanging by a thread

I'd like to make myself believe
That planet earth turns slowly
It's hard to say that I'd rather stay
Awake when I'm asleep
'Cause everything is never as it seems
When I fall asleep

Leave my door open just a crack
(Please take me away from here)
'Cause I feel like such an insomniac
(Please take me away from here)
Why do I tire of counting sheep
(Please take me away from here)
When I'm far too tired to fall asleep

To ten million fireflies
I'm weird 'cause I hate goodbyes
I got misty eyes as they said farewell

But I'll know where several are
If my dreams get real bizarre
'Cause I saved a few and I keep them in a jar

I'd like to make myself believe
That planet Earth turns slowly
It's hard to say that I'd rather stay
Awake when I'm asleep
'Cause everything is never as it seems
When I fall asleep

I'd like to make myself believe
That planet Earth turns slowly
It's hard to say that I'd rather stay
Awake when I'm asleep
'Cause everything is never as it seems
When I fall asleep

I'd like to make myself believe
That planet earth turns slowly
It's hard to say that I'd rather stay
Awake when I'm asleep
Because my dreams are bursting at the seams

Build-A-Bear

Hi there,
Have you ever been to Build-A-Bear workshop? Because I have decided that of all my childhood memories, that was one of the places were I truly had the time of my life. At Build-A-Bear, you can pick out an animal, give it a heart, fill it with stuffing, dress it in whatever clothes you want, give it a name, and more. There is something magical about creating your own stuffed animal when you are from the ages 7-10. Okay, that's a lie. I still find it magical! But you can't blame me!! Every animal you make turns out so adorable and sweet, and people just adore them as gifts! For my 11th birthday, my little brother and my mom went to Build-A-Bear together and make me a puppy that was white with brown spots. In its hand was a little orange and red cupcake that said: Happy Birthday! I still sleep with this stuffed animal every night, although I have detached the Cupcake and put it on my desk. Of course now, there is this whole additional virtual world of Build-A-Bear, but to get the experience you must actually go. I think that it is very cute that during the special holidays, they have some feature bear. If you go onto the website right now, they have a while bear with snowflakes for winter. To go to the Build-A-Bear Workshop site, just click here. Of course its fun looking at the website, but go with your friends to Build-A-Bear and, (oh gosh, here comes the really cheesy part) and Build-A-Bear today!!
Really, it's so much fun, no matter how old you are :)
Build-A-Bear is located (in Manhattan) at 565 5th Avenue in NY, NY

Mother knows Best

Hi guys,
I know, I know. So many posts in what, two days? I just love this blogging idea! Anyway, mother knows best is really my way of saying that during the summer, my mom had this brilliant idea. It is not completely original, but I still like the idea anyway. Since I'm sure you have all heard of Pinkberry, Coldstone, Tasti D-Lite, etc. So my mom though: why not have a store where you make your own cereal? For example, instead of taking chocolate ice cream and adding chocolate syrup, M&M's, marshmallows (as great as that may sound!!), you have Honey Nut Cheerios, dried fruit, raisins, etc. Then you could go there and customize your own breakfast! My addition is that if you paid extra money, you could get your cereal put into a regular sized cereal box, so that you could have your creation for a while. But the company would probably have to charge a lot of money for that, because of the cardboard you put it in, if they need to use plastic to hold the actually cereal, and so on. But still, I think that my moms idea is pretty creative. What do you think??

Vampire Weekend

Hi there!
Vampire Weekend is an indie-pop band that started in 2006, and is one of my favorite bands right now. The group members are Ezra Koeing, Rostam Batmanglij, Chris Tomson, and Chris Biao. First of all, before you jump to any conclusions, this band has nothing to do with the twilight books or movies. All of the band members have just graduated college, and have a very happy, light, and sweet tone. They are often compared with a similar band called Pheonix, who I like as well, although I prefer Vampire Weekend. My favorite song is called "M79". I like this song because they are talking about the M79 crosstown bus in Manhattan, and they mention the city in a lot of other ways. The city probably influences lots of their music because they all attended Columbia University. They have one album on iTunes called "Vampire Weekend", and an album coming out soon that is called "Contra". I am very excited about their new album, because their old album is incredible! All of the songs put me into a good mood whenever I am feeling tired and stressed, and I think it is very important to have music that does that. If you have seen the movie "Step Brothers", their song "A-Punk" is used somewhere in the movie. Their music videos are also very creative. I own two of them, and I watch them on my iPod all the time. The first music video I have is called "Mansard Roof", where the band is playing their music on a boat while sailing around. It shows them laughing, eating, and just having fun. Their other music video I have is for the song I previously mentioned, called "A-Punk". This music video is the most original music video I have ever seen, but in the best of ways. All of the band members are dressed in brightly colored clothing, and are all singing the words to the song, but the video is edited so that sometimes they are moving quickly, and other times are moving slowly. It is very difficult to describe what is going on, but it is certainly one of my favorite music videos! I highly recommend at least watching one of their music videos or listening to one of their songs.

To listen to their songs, you can do one of the following:
1. Search Vampire Weekend on iTunes, and click on the album cover like the picture above, and listen to any of their songs.
2. Unfortunately, their website is very minimal. But it still is a very cool page to visit! I think you can listen to two of their full songs for free.
3. You can go on to youtube, search Vampire Weekend, and listen to their songs.

To watch one of their videos:
1. Search Vampire Weekend on iTunes, and look at the previews of all their different videos! (Again, I highly recommend watching A-Punk!)
2. Go to youtube and search Vampire Weekend, and watch some of their full videos for free. Here is the link to A-Punk on youtube:

Tell me what you think of them in the comments box!

Levain Bakery

Hello,
I wanted to tell you about Levain Bakery, because it truly is one of the most delicious bakeries in Manhattan. Ever since I found out about with my family a couple of years ago, I constantly go there with my friends, when my relatives come to town, or to grab a delicious fresh baked cookie during the cold and wet winter. Of course you can also grab a cookie during the summer, spring, and fall, but there's something special about eating a delicious, chocolatey, melty cookie during the winter in New York City that is just oh-so-special. The owners of Levain Bakery are Pam Weekes and Connie McDonald, and the two of them even made a youtube video giving a little bit of information about the bakery, the cookies, etc. If you are interested in the video, here's the link:
Levain has had their fair share of publicity, too. Pam and Connie were on Bobby Flays TV Show called "Throwdown!", were Bobby Flay finds bakers and chefs around America that are known for one of their famous dishes', and challenges them to a throwdown. He usually surprises the person (or people, in this case), and asks them if they are willing to go against him in a match to see who is better at baking the one dish. Pam and Connie accepted, were judged, and made better chocolate chip cookies than BOBBY FLAY! They were also briefly featured on Oprah for, once again, being one of the best bakeries in Manhattan! If you still aren't sure about going there yet, you should check out their main website:
I suggest ordering some cookies and having a taste test with your friends! It's lots of fun, and the cookies are as rich as cake. My favorite things at the store are the ooey-gooey chocolate chip cookies, and their cinnamon brioches with chocolate chips. What can I say? Once you set foot in that bakery, you stay a sweet tooth forever!
Levain Bakery is located on 167 West 74th Street in NY, NY.

Nearly Halloween!

Hi there!
Halloween is tomorrow, and I am SO excited!! What are you being for Halloween? Where did you get your costume? And who are you going trick-or-treating with?? Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, because everyone has the excuse to look completely ridiculous and eat tons of candy! This is also the time of year when you get those entertaining "foward" e-mails from your friends. One of my good friends most recently sent me this link: http://funschool.kaboose.com/preschool/games/game_creepy_coloring.html
Yes, it is for preschool kids. But it's so cute! Print it out for one of your friends, and tape on a Hershey chocolate bar, and you've got a sweet little gift for a friend. I also love how those carved pumpkins look! I've always wanted to learn how to carve one of those, but every time I decide to get one and practice first on a piece of paper, I never end up doing it right!
Have fun tonight! More Halloween posts tomorrow!

Blue Tree - NYC

Hello there,
The very first store I think that you must know about is called "Blue Tree". It is easily in my top five favorite stores in New York City. It is a small store, but full of wonderfully interesting trinkets. It has beautiful jewelry, clothes, puppets, creams, perfumes, cards, games, and so much more. Apartment therapy online describes it as "the home and body boutique on the upper east side, carries a small selection of charming home goods". This store is actually owned by Pheobe Cates, an actress who appeared in the well known movie "Gremlins". One of my favorite things that I have gotten from there is a suede mouse paperweight. It is small, soft, and so very adorable! I use it all the time, and I love how it looks on my desk. The prices are a little high, but just visiting the store is an experience in itself. When you walk in you are greeted by a pleasant staff, wonderful smells, original children's toys.
Blue Tree is located on 1283 Madison Avenue in NY, NY, or you can visit there website: http://www.bluetreenyc.com/index.php?route=res|home
Go to the website, and tell me one of the things you like in the comments below!

Polyvore

Hi!
The very first thing that I recommend you do is get a polyvore account. All you have to do is go to www.polyvore.com. You simply put in an e-mail address, username, and password. I have one, and I think that it's lots of fun, because you can make online collages with whatever you want! If they don't have the image you want to include, you can add it to their library, and then other people even use what you add in!
There are lots of fun contests you can enter, lots of sets to look at, and no limit to the wonderful things you can create!!

What is Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends?

Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends is the name of a cute show that was created based on colorful characters are all different shapes and sizes. I think that it is an adorable name for a TV Show, and it inspired me to write a blog! I will be posting about all kinds of different things, including music, stores, restaurants, random ideas, and more.
Please feel free to post comments and links!
Enjoy!
